Is It Bad To Vacuum Different Houses With Same Vacuum?
I just started cleaning houses and have an awesome vacuum that I use in my own home. I have been using it in my customers homes. I need to vacuum my own home still, of course, but is it unsanitary to use this vacuum from house to house and then use it in mine? Am I spreading anything? Are there steps or precautions I should be taking?

No, I never heard that you can spread anything from using the same
vacuum that you do at work. But if this makes you uncomfort-
able, you could buy another vacuum and use that for your own personal
use at home.

We use 2 upright vacuums and 1 canister. 1 upright for homes with pets and excess food spills. 1 for cleaner homes. I also carry hypo allergenic sweeper bags for sensative home owners. The canister gets wipped out and bag changed 2 times a week, or more. Baggs are cheaper than new customers and are priced into the job and sold as a benefit to the customer during the interview.

I work in a vacuum shop and we never recommend it. You never know what you’re picking up there. If you have to, use a different bag, but remember this wont keep fleas and other things from entering your home from others. Buy a cheap commercial vacuum for the cleaning of homes.

It should be OK but of course if one home had fleas or something from their pets you would be carrying them to another home (maybe yours).

I certainly wouldn’t do it. The rollers & brushes that go across who knows what will be going across your floor, too!
